Owner | Captain
Doug Foster started Nyack Boat Charter with Rob Bellanich in 2015. Doug is involved in all the business planning/management, and is a licensed captain.
Doug has sailed his entire life, starting on his family’s Alberg 35 growing up. He was an elected official in Nyack for seven years, with a lot of focus repairing and renovating the marina and waterfront. Starting Nyack Boat Charter was a natural extension as a way to offer people the opportunity to get on the Hudson, connecting Nyack with the river.

Captain / Crew
Hello, I'm Owen! Most people describe me as adventurous, optimistic and a lover of all things water. I grew up sailing right here in Nyack, and my passion has only grown for boats since I started racing at 12. I am studying at Fordham University in New York City, but something about the bridge at night, the leaves on Hook Mountain in the fall, or just the great people, keeps bringing me back to Hudson.
Matt is an ASA certified sailing instructor and US Coast Guard licensed Master Mariner (25 Tons). His boating experience began in New England's waters as a child and he has sailed extensively throughout the world, but his favorite place is the Hudson River, and that passion shows on every tour.
Matt is a former US Marine officer and served as a platoon commander in Iraq and a company commander in Japan. His passion for energy security and the environment led him to a civilian career focused on innovation in environmental sustainability; from building renewable fuel plants in the Midwest to implementing energy efficiency projects nationwide. He is currently a high school teacher, passing his insights to the next generation. In addition to tours that reflect his awe for the scale and grandeur of the Hudson River, Matt will also give you an unmatched education of the history and ecology of these waterways that you will never forget!
